Toledo City gets aid for Hinulawan Festival

CEBU, Philippines — Toledo City received ?5.5 million aid from the Cebu provincial government on the day of their Hinulawan Festival last June 12.

In a post by Sugbo News, the official Facebook page of the provincial government, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia announced that the Local Government Unit will receive ?3 million as subsidy for its socio-cultural expenses, while each of the five clusters of barangays will receive P500,000 as financial assistance.

These clusters are cluster 1 Tribu Magmimina, cluster 2 Hugpong Mananayaw Sa Bulawanong Gugma, cluster 3 Tribu Nagkahiusang Mananayaw sa Toledo, cluster 4 Lumad Minerong Toledonhon, and cluster 5 Mga Bulawanong Mananayaw Sa Pundok Singko.

“Hangyoon ko kamo, Toledonhon, ayaw pakyasa kining talagsaong higayon. You are already a multi-awarded city in the entire Philippines. Nailhan na kamo nga karon nag-una, matuod gayud nahimong sumbanan sa tibuok probinsiya. Ayaw og balik niadtong higayon nga nagkabuak-buak,” said Garcia in her speech.

Toledo City Mayor Marjorie Perales thanked Garcia for her support to the city in establishing programs for the youth like the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo in which she considers the youth their “hinaguang bulawan”.

“Usa na kini ang atong mga kabatan-onan, nakita ninyo karong gabhiona, ang garbo sa Syudad sa Toledo,” said Perales.

The event of the city was also joined with Provincial Board Members Atty. John Ismael Borgonia, Victoria Corominas-Toribio, Toledo City Vice Mayor Jay Sigue, Councilor Ricardo “Kuya Nick” Pepito, and other members of the City Council.

Toledo City celebrates Hinulawan Festival annually on June 12 as a thanksgiving to the city’s patron saint, St. John of Sahagun. – /BRP (FREEMAN)
