Two dead, two hurt in 3 shootings
CEBU, Philippines — Two men were killed while two others were wounded in three shooting incidents in different places in the city last Wednesday and the other day.
The first happened in Sitio Sugarlandia Barangay Bacayan, Cebu City, last Wednesday afternoon, when Jeterville Villagorda Totay, 26, a resident of the said place, was shot dead.
Police said that while the victim was sitting on the sofa inside their house two men entered and shot him twice, resulting in his death.
Scene of the Crime Operations recovered two slugs of undetermined caliber and a white sandal left behind by the suspects.
Past 6 p.m. that same day, the Parian Police Station received a call from members of the BPSO in Barangay Kamagayan about a shooting.
The victims were only identified as “David”, 25, a resident of Barangay Lorega-San Miguel and “Gorio”, 46, a habal-habal driver, also living in Lorega-San Miguel.
Gorio was supposed to take David to Sikatuna Street, Barangay Zapatera, because he was going to see someone only identified as Japjap. When David arrived at the place, he called Japjap to say that he had arrived.
David saw Japjap on a motorcycle heading towards him, but when he got off the motorcycle, he was suddenly shot in the abdomen. Gorio was also hit but still managed to drive the motorcycle to the Kamagayan Barangay Hall and there asked for help. The two were taken to the hospital.
Meanwhile, a man was shot dead while riding his bicycle in Lawis Street, Barangay Ermita, Cebu City, around 10:30 p.m. last Thursday.
The victim was identified as Ronel Avila, 37, a resident of Sitio Laray, Barangay Inayawan.
Investigators from the Carbon Police Station said he had been shot twice with a .45 cal. pistol. One slug entered his right eyebrow and exited from the back of his head and the other entered from below his ear and also went through the back of his head.
His sister, Leonora Avila, said the victim has a bad habit of making trouble for their mother whenever he got high from using illegal drugs.
According to residents in the area there was a man who appeared to be observing the victim before the shooting happened.
Carbon Police Station chief Police Major Philip John Lebris said there are three persons of interest in this case, but declined to name them as investigation is still ongoing and they are following the CCTV footage. (CEBU NEWS)
