CEBU, Philippines — One of the biggest establishments that had been found violating the no-build zone over Estero de Parian has coordinated with Cebu City s Task Force Gubat sa Baha (TFGsB) while eight other structures may face closure orders for neglecting the notices sent to them.

Based on the said TFGsB s update, Gaisano Main has already coordinated with the Cebu City government concerning its three-meter violation.

On the other hand, eight other establishments around Estero de Parian that have been identified to have been ignoring the city government s notice, includes Plastic N  things, Hope Realty, D Lucky Motor Parts, Ramirez Building, Ty Building, Calderetahan, and Multiple Rental Space, all of which are along Manalili Street in Barangay Sto. Nino, as well as Queen City Realty along R. Palma St. in Barangay San Roque.

TFGsB s Operations head Engr. Charles Villagonzalo said they are just waiting for the issuance of the notice of violation  this week for these eight establishments from the Business Process Licensing Office (BPLO). BPLO is also basing this from the recommendations of the task force.

After the release of the notice of violation, a closure order may follow should they continue to ignore the notice.

In total, there are 53 establishments that were found to have violations within the three-meter easement of Estero de Parian, but 21 of them have already cleared the illegal structures they built.

Maypalad Shipping Lines situated along McArthur Boulevard is continuing its clearing operations.

Further, TFGsB hopes for everyone s cooperation for the revival of the citys rivers while addressing the flooding problem in the city.

Aside from clearing illegal structures, everyone is also expected to dispose of garbage properly.

River troopers are also continuously monitoring rivers for everyone s safety and protection.

TFGsB s Public Awareness Committee is also continuing its awareness campaign concerning environmental laws and city ordinances regarding the three-meter easement and solid waste management, among others.

Meanwhile, Cebu City Acting Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia has directed the TFGsB to submit short-term plans for La Nina specifically on creating gabion dams.

In a video provided by the Cebu City Information Office, Garcia said that after hearing the presentation of TFGsB Commander Mel Feliciano, he assured that the latter will have the full support of his office.

Nakita nako ang mga maayo nga programa o proyekto nga angay gyud natong ipadayon, dako kaayo kog pagsalig sa pag implement ni General Mel, said Garcia.

He, however, stressed that Feliciano has to give the Office of the Mayor his short-term plans in anticipation of the arrival of the La Nifia.

Garcia specified the plans on declogging, desilting, and even on the possibility of putting up gabion dams.

Kay kanang gabion dams, dili man na concrete structure, nga lisod himuon its just nga mura bato lang na nga ma impound lang nato ang tubig nga muhinay og kanaog diri sa syudad sa Sugbo, said Garcia. — /ATO (FREEMAN)
