Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2024 on

CEBU, Philippines — The towns and component cities in the Province of Cebu will now have to prepare for another round of competition of festivals, as there will be a Pasigarbo sa Sugbo Festival this year.

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia announced this during her speech when she attended the Sugat sa Kabanhawan Festival in Minglanilla last Sunday.

“Kini tingali ang labing tukma nga higayon nga atong dunggon ang singgit sa katawhan, ang hangyo sa atong mga kabataan, ug ang naghatag og garbo sa matag Sugbuanon. Karong tuiga, pangandam, champion (Minglanilla), kay mobalik ang Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2024!” Garcia said.

With the said announcement, the local government units that will be participating are expected to prepare their contingents for the said competition from the logistics, dancers, costumes, and concept for the goal to be the grand champion.

Last year, the Kabanhawan Festival contingent of Minglanilla emerged as the winner during the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo that was held in Carcar City.

Dubbed the “festival of all festivals” in Cebu Province, the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo is a cultural festival celebrating the founding anniversary of Cebu Province where the biggest cultural dances from the different towns and cities in the province gather every August to present their festival through their performances.

Meanwhile, Garcia also released the ?3-million financial assistance for Minglanilla where the five competing contingents received ?300,000 each as prize for their performance while the ?1.5 million was for the LGU to help cover its expenses in preparing for the said event.

Mayor Rajiv Enad during the said event said that he will shell out ?50,000 from his personal funds for each participating contingent.

“Para nako, ang Sugat Kabanhawan niabante na, tungod kay grand champion ta sa Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2023 ug ni representar sa probinsya sa Sinulog sa Lalawigan 2024,” Enad said.

Garcia also said she saw the “leveling up” of the Sugat sa Kabanhawan from the day it started in Minglanilla. — (FREEMAN)
