OBO collects P47 million for Jan, Feb
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City’s Office of the Building Official (OBO) started the year right, collecting P47,201,301.64 in the first two months of this year.
OBO chief architect Florante Catalan said that these were collected from issuance of certificates and permits for business, fencing, building, occupancy, electrical, demolition, excavation, scaffolding, and streamers, among others.
Catalan said more was collected in January due to the scheduled business renewal.
In its latest assessment report submitted to Mayor Mike Rama, OBO inspected and issued notices to 1,513 buildings, structures, and establishments for the first two months.
They are also able to grant 67 applications via “One-stop Shop for Construction Permit,” with an approval rate of 48%.
In 2023, OBO was able to collect a total income of P131,357,179.24 with a total number of buildings/structures/establishments inspected and issued notices at 15,696.
Out of the 27 departments/offices in Cebu City, OBO is the first office to implement the online processing of all its permit services and payments in less than an hour with digital technology (OBO-IS) developed by the city government’s Management Information and Computer Services.
With a more efficient collection system, OBO received several accolades in 2023 and is expected to do even better this year as Mayor Michael Rama eyes a corruption-free office environment. - BRP (CEBU NEWS)
