CCPDO to train barangay captains on development planning
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Planning and Development Office set to go down to the barangays to train barangay chiefs in crafting their development plan.
CCPDO assistant planning officer, Architect Anne Marie Cuizon, said that the barangay development plan (BDP) will dictate their respective barangay’s programs and projects within their term.
The current set of barangay officials only have a short period in service so such a move by the CCPDO is expected to be a big help for them.
The first session is set on February 6 in a still undisclosed venue. This will involve all the barangay captains here.
“It is also very important nga ang kapitan jud ang moadto or ang mga representative nga ilang ipadala should also be knowledgeable sad sa unsay naa sa ilang barangay,” CCPDO’s project development officer Geraldine dela Cerna said via Sugboanon channel.
The first scheduled date will also finalize the clustering of barangays.
The remaining schedules will be on February 19 and 20 while February 22 will be dedicated to the rural barangay cluster.
Aside from the rural barangays, the other clusters will include coastal and urban sectors.
The training is expected to help barangay captains come up with plans that could benefit their constituents.
“Pinakaimportante gyud nga naa ang tanang mga barangay captains. Kung pwede makakuha tag 100 percent sa 80 barangays,” added dela Cerna.
CCPDO’s economist, Caryl Angel Mae Caburnay, on the other hand, urged barangay captains to have concrete data during the planning sessions.
“If moabot na ang time that we conduct the Barangay Development Plan, unta kompleto na ang ilahang data. Kay we cannot plan for the future nga wala tay data, because these data are essential in development planning,” stressed Caburnay. — (FREEMAN)
