Scholars given 3 days to claim allowances
CEBU, Philippines — Close to 200 Cebu City college academic scholars who failed to claim their supply and transportation allowances for the second semester of 2022-2023 will only have three days left to claim it starting today, Jan.17, at the City Treasurer’s Office located across the Cebu City Hall Executive Building.
They may claim it from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the Cebu City Scholarship Program Office.
Authorization letters are no longer allowed so the scholar themselves will have to get it.
Everyone is also reminded to bring one’s valid school ID or any valid government ID with signature. “No ID, No claim,” part of the CCSP’s announcement reads.
The Freeman learned that these remaining scholars are all from the University of Cebu (UC)-Main Campus.
These student-scholars accordingly were not able to claim their allowances right away last month due to the election ban, according to CCSP executive director Judy Navarrete.
The unclaimed allowances will have to be taken within three days only or the funds will be returned to the city’s coffers after the deadline set.
Currently, there are 14,800 youngsters in Cebu City that are able to avail of the city’s scholarship program.
For concern and inquiries, one is encouraged to message directly the new Cebu City Scholarship Program page. The old CCSP which was hacked last December remains unrecovered. — (FREEMAN)
