New LnB officers to assume office on January 2

CEBU, Philippines — The new Liga ng mga Barangay ng Pilipinas chapter presidents and other officials in highly-urbanized cities, independent and component cities and municipalities will assume office at noontime of January 2, 2024 yet.

This is to allow proper turnover as agreed by LnB’s National Executive Board in its meeting last Monday. For provincial chapters, it’s going to be on January 29, 2024 at 12:00 noon while the regional and national chapters will be on April 15, 2024.

LNB national president Eden Chua-Pineda, in its latest memo, also indicated that a certificate of confirmation from the National Liga is required prior to assumption office as indicated in its 2022 LnB Election Code.

To expedite the process of confirmation, the incumbent National Liga President has the full authority to act on behalf of the National Liga Board.

For the issuance of confirmation, documents via the Election Portal, Minutes of the Election Meeting, Canvass and Proclamation Forms Completion of the Required Chapter Directory issued by the National Liga in Excel Form must be submitted.

Aside from that, there should be a designated executive staff that will serve as the official representative to the National Liga.

In line with this, additional requirements are needed for municipal and component cities including Certification of Full Payment of the 2019 to 2024 Liga dues and full payment 2024 Subscription to the Liga National Official Publication issued by the Interim Liga President or Interim Temporary Presiding Officer.

For chapters that failed to hold their elections on the date specified earlier will also have a synchronized conduct of re-synchronized conduct of re-scheduled elections except for chapter elections with pending protests or legal interventions. — /GMR (FREEMAN)
