CEBU, Philippines — Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia inspected Tuesday the improvements currently being done at the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT), the biggest bus terminal in the province located in Cebu City.

Rodenita Esgana, head of operations of CSBT, gave the governor a rundown of changes being implemented at the terminal, such as improved cleanliness as well as the free use of comfort rooms.

The governor, according to Sugbo News, the official Facebook page of the Cebu provincial government, is looking to install additional ticketing counters for the mini-buses and V-hires to expedite the ticketing process of passengers. Ventilation will also be improved with the installation of air-conditioning units.

Ceilings and walls have been repainted, and strategic locations are installed with TV sets that would air Sugbo News content to also disseminate Capitol news to local and foreign travelers passing through the terminal.

The governor was accompanied in her inspection by Provincial Board Members Glenn Soco, Victoria “Tata” Corominas-Toribio, Cesar Baricuatro, Michael Joseph Villamor, Carmela Franco, and Raul Bacaltos.

The governor and the board members also inaugurated the fourth Sugbo Sentro branch located on the second floor of the terminal.

It houses various food stalls selling lechon, several street foods like ngohiong, milk tea, carenderia food, kakanin, and bread, among others.

The Sugbo Sentro will also have air-conditioning to give diners a better eating experience.

The new food center is expected to boost additional revenues for the provincial government from the rental charges of the tenants.

The CSBT is the fourth branch of Sugbo Sentro Food Court opened by the Cebu provincial government. Other branches are located at Cebu IT Park, the Capitol Compound, and at Fuente Osmeña (former Larsian place).

The CSBT accommodates thousands of passengers daily who are traveling to Cebu’s southern towns and nearby islands. — (FREEMAN)
