CPPO pursues loose firearms

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) is strengthening its campaign against loose firearms as part of its preparations for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections on October 30.

CPPO personnel conducted 263 operations against unlicensed and unregistered firearms resulting in the arrest of 238 individuals and the confiscation of 267 firearms, mostly short firearms, and 39 cases were filed.

"This is a proactive approach of the CPPO for the upcoming BSKE 2023," said Police Major Nolan Tagsip, CPPO spokesperson.

Apart from this, the CPPO also conducted 163 operations against illegal drugs where 204 drug personalities were arrested and 788.88 grams of shabu worth P5.3 million were seized.

The provincial police arrested 13 most wanted persons and 192 other wanted persons. — (FREEMAN)
