CEBU, Philippines —  Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia is set to visit the southern town of Oslob today to see personally the current situation of the tourism there, particularly the whale shark watching in Barangay Tan-awan.

This after Mayor Ronald Guaren asked assistance from the Capitol to improve the tourism experience of the guests visiting their town.

In response, the governor proposed to establish a tourist area for the visitors for their orientation before they will be transported to the whale-shark spot in Barangay Tan-awan via bus.

The said tourist area will also display local products and souvenirs.

The local government will still look for an area for the said structure. As of now, local and foreign tourists are divided for orientation to avoid congestion in one particular area.

An average of 1,000 tourists are visiting Oslob particularly for the whale shark watching activity making it one of the most visited tourism destinations in Cebu Province.

A P500 fee is charged for the whale shark watching activity in Oslob. — GMR (FREEMAN)
