Talisaynons have until today to join painting tilt
CEBU, Philippines — Talisay City, Cebu Mayor Samsam Gullas has invited artists in his city to “unleash their creativity” and join the City Government’s heritage on-the-spot painting contest this Sunday, Oct. 1.
They have until today to respond and have themselves registered for the contest.
“Talisay is known for its historic events and heritage, and we aim to highlight the beauty of our past,” the mayor said over his Facebook account.
He challenged Talisay’s homegrown talents to “unleash their imagination and ignite one’s passion by joining the event,” which has two categories, namely: amateur, for 14 to 17 years old; and professional, for artists, who should be Talisay City residents, 18 years old and above.
Per contest mechanics, each participant is allowed only one entry and that collaborative or group entries would not be accepted.
Another rule is that the artwork should be created on canvases of either 18 × 24 inches or 24 x 18 inches only and should be created using oil and acrylic mediums only.
All entries should also be created on the spot, on the designated contest date, and without the aid of digital media.
Registration for the contest ends today, Sept. 29. To register, anyone interested should send via text message his name and address to Christian Joecep Lazarte at 0927-0382452.
As announced, registration is free and limited to 10 participants per category only.
All entries must also be submitted on or before 4 p.m. of the contest date, when the winners would also be announced.
There would be three major winners and seven finalists who would all receive cash prizes.
The guidelines likewise stated that the paintings of the three major winners of both categories would automatically became the City Government’s property. — RHM (FREEMAN)
