Imee distributes aid in Danao, Bogo

CEBU, Philippines — Senator Imee Marcos visited Cebu over the weekend to lead the distribution of financial aid to individuals in crisis situation in the cities of Danao and Bogo

The presidential sister distributed the P3,000 cash assistance to each of the 2,000 beneficiaries of Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

The beneficiaries in Danao City include the fire victims in Barangay Tuburan Sur; landslide victims in Barangay Sabang; and those affected by demolition in Barangay Suba. The distribution was witnessed by  Danao City Mayor Thomas Mark 'Mix' Durano, Vice Mayor Ramon 'Nito' Durano III, former congressman Red Durano, and former tourism secretary Ace Durano.

“Para sa atong mga beneficiaries, among dakong paghinaut nga unta kining ayuda gikan sa atong gobyerno pinaagi sa paningkamot ni Senadora Imee Marcos inyong magamit sa maayong tumong ug katuyuan," Mayor Durano said.

He also thanked the senator for her consistent support to Danao City and for personally gracing the AICS payout and the city's Karansa Festival 2023 last Sunday.

In addition to the AICS payout, Marcos also brought with her the Nutribun, a symbolic revival of her father's legacy – the "nutribun", which she personally distributed to Danao City's Anak Program Beneficiaries and select children of Barangay Sabang.

In Bogo City, Marcos led the distribution to some 1,002 beneficiaries of AICS conducted at the Bogo City Hall Compound Covered Court.

In her message during the distribution, Marcos said the beneficiaries are the families that were greatly affected by the pandemic in the last two and a half years.   She said that the release of AICS aid through the DSWD will help the families who are in financial difficulties.

Marcos was assisted by Bogo City Mayor Carlo Jose A. Martinez, Vice-Mayor Maria Cielo Martinez and the city councilors. — (FREEMAN)
