CEBU, Philippines —  After the launching of the Lakbay Lingaw or Cebu City’s Tourism Month last week, the city government, through its tourism commission, will have their hands full, as several activities have been set to promote local tourism.

Yesterday, the gastronomic food-filled adventure began at the Plaza Independencia dubbed “Mangaon Ta!”

For those who missed the first day, the food fair will be until tomorrow from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Lots of locators, hotels, restaurants and suppliers are out to showcase their food and other products.

Highlight for today will be the “latte art competition,” while there will be a cooking demo tomorrow.

Southside Band will also add up spice in the event.

City Councilor Joy Pesquera, who is also the city’s tourism chief, said there will also be a boxing match at the park today.

Some promotional tours are also set this month.

This time around, it’s the tourism commission that is inviting vloggers, lifestyle writers and airlines from other countries for immersion.

A sunset cruise is also set for the concierge association for them to experience themselves what this cruise is all about, so they will be able to fully explain it to their guests and other tourists who inquired about it.

On September 16, tourism stakeholders in the city will also take part in the International Coastal Clean-up.

Pesquera said they will be focusing on Barangays Suba and Pasil as they also hope to revive the fish market, wherein they plan to have seafood restaurants in the future where tourists can go.

An exhibit in fashion, design and creatives will also take place on September 27, 29 and 30 at Gmall with the wedding coordinators with the hope of promoting the city as a premiere wedding destination.

The introduction of the official candidates of Miss Cebu 2024 will also be done this month.

The tourism month here will be capped with a tourism gala, where the city will be giving awards to those who help promote tourism in Cebu City, Pesquera said. (CEBU NEWS)
