Motorcycle rider dies after ramming into truck
CEBU, Philippines — A motorcycle driver died after he rammed into a parked 10-wheeler truck that contained steel bars in Barangay Guiwanon, Compostela, Cebu last Thursday.
The truck driver was identified as Juan Paslon Anario, 47, was originally from Pinamungajan, Cebu and is currently residing at Sitio Soong 1, Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.
Case investigator Police Staff Sergeant Cristito Aresco said that at about 5:00 a.m. last Thursday, Anario parked his Hino truck beside the road.
The truck contained a red steel gate with bars already loaded on the vehicle but exceeded approximately about half a meter of the body of the truck.
The truck also had little to no hazard lighting as well as no warning sign in the front and back of
his truck for safety of his existing load.
Victim Jason Estenzo Jurado, 23, a resident of Corazon, Catmon, Cebu, was driving his black and blue Honda Click motorcycle when he accidentally rammed into the truck, and hit his head on one of the bars of the steel gate, breaking his helmet.
After they learned about the incident, Aresco, along with several traffic enforcers and Police Captain Kelvin Roy P. Mamaradlo, responded to the incident.
The victim sustained severe injuries to his head and other parts of his body and was immediately brought to the Danao Cebu Provincial Hospital.
The victim was immediately treated but was later pronounced dead by attending physician Dr. Balbona Josephus due to the injuries he sustained.
The truck driver was detained at the Compostela Police Station to face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. — UV Intern/GAN
