Son hacks 70-year-old father amid argument
CEBU, Philippines — A 70-year-old father was hacked in the face after he had a heated argument with his son Sunday morning in Sitio Kulti, Brgy. Obong, Dalaguete, Cebu.
The victim was identified as Jose Amacna Hontiveros, 70, while the suspect was his son, Jeniffer Maglinte Hontiveros, 36 years old.
According to Police Senior Master Sergeant Job Joseph Fajardo, desk officer of Dalaguete Police Station, the suspect has a mental disorder.
“Mura mag naay gamay deperinsya kuan sa pangisip kiring anak gumikan aning gahum-gahum naay tulomanon ba,” said Fajardo.
Based on the investigation by the Dalaguete police, while the victim and his son were arguing inside their house, the latter suddenly pulled out a machete and slashed the victim's face and various parts of the body.
The victim was quickly taken to the Argao District Hospital for treatment.
The suspect was quickly arrested by the responding police and will be charged for frustrated parricide.
