Mayor asks CH workers: Help achieve zero waste
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has appealed to City Hall employees to help the Department of Public Services (DPS) in reaching his target of no street garbage starting June 12.
Rama said that he is really serious about that goal so the help of other City Hall employees is very important.
He explained this during the event, "Pasidungog sa Kakugi," which was held in a mall yesterday and was attended by City Hall workers.
"Tabangan nato ang DPS, ato ra man sad nang garbo ba," said the mayor.
He said that once the project is successful, the good reputation will be credited to the people who were part of it.
There is a possibility that the result of that goal will also be part of his upcoming State of the City Address (SOCA) in the middle part of this year.
Rama first revealed that apart from the garbage, he doesn't want to see people sleeping on the streets.
On the other hand, yesterday's "Pasidungog sa Kakugi" event was to give awards to various City Hall employees.
From over 200 nominees, over 100 received awards.
According to the mayor, the hard work of the employees of each department is the key to its success in delivering services to the people.
Also during the celebration of Labor Day yesterday, the Cebu City Government also offered free services from various departments and offices of the city government and set them up at Plaza Independencia.
Among the departments that offered services were the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) and the City Health Department (CHD) which provided free laboratory services, complete medical checkup, consultation, and medicines, dental services, among others.
The Department of Manpower Development and Placement (DMDP) also offered massage, manicure, pedicures, and haircut services during the event. — GMR (FREEMAN)
