CEBU, Philippines —  The Aboitiz Foundation Inc. and Aboitiz Power Corporation recently donated various packages to the barangays of Banilad and Maguikay in Mandaue City that were facilitated through the efforts of Representative Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon.

Ouano-Dizon said that Banilad received the blended learning computer package worth around P270,000 while Maguikay received a package of equipment and supplies for their barangay health center worth around P200,000.

The lady lawmaker of the Lone District of Mandaue City made the recommendation to APC and AFI through Willy Rodolfo, who is the vice-president for external affairs of APC, for the foundation to donate the said essential equipment under its “Adopt A School Program.”

The congresswoman made such recommendation to Rodolfo after she had learned from Barangay Captain Greg Yap that Banilad National High School needs the said computer equipment.

“We all know unsa ka dakung tabang ani nga project to our students,” said the congresswoman, during the turnover the other day as she advised the recipients to take care of these pieces of equipment and maximize its use.

Ouano-Dizon said that she believed that education is the greatest lasting to the children.

“Kay kini dili ma-ilog, dili makawat, ug dili mabaligya,” she said.

She also made the same recommendation to Rodolfo for Barangay Maguikay through its “Adopt A Barangay Health Center Program”.

Ouano-Dizon likewise thanked the Aboitiz companies for extending this essential support to the barangay constituents of Maguikay.

“To serve our constituents who need our medical attention is part sa atong pagpasalamat sa Kahitas-an that we are given a chance day by day to have life and, that we are more fortunate than others,” the lady legislator said.

She added that this is the first of many corporate social responsibility project series that will greatly benefit the learners and constituents of the city.

Meanwhile, almost 800 Mandauehanons coming from the barangays of Bakilid, Maguikay, Jagobiao, Tabok, Cubacub, Casili, Tawason, and Canduman received financial assistance worth P3,000 each.

The beneficiaries are barangay workers and frontliners, barangay health workers, barangay tanods, lupon tagapamayapa, barangay drivers and garbage collectors.

The financial assistance came from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation through the initiative of Ouano-Dizon.

AICS serves as a stop-gap mechanism or social safety net to support the recovery of individuals and families from an unexpected crisis. (CEBU NEWS)
