Go, Hontiveros agree to promote sports, health

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Senator Bong Go and Cebu City Councilor Donaldo Hontiveros have shown some teamwork on the ground with the two coming into an understanding to work together for the health and sports programs for the Cebuanos in the city.

Go, during the launch of the Malasakit Center at the Cebu City Medical Center, disclosed that he and Hontiveros have already come a long way including during his first-time campaigning and have admired the Cebuano hotshots, not only for his shooting skills but for his being “buotan."

SBG even injected some joke in his speech when he saw Hontiveros' tattered jeans.

“Nganong nabuslot naman ng imong pantalon, na konsehal na nuon ka. Gamay sweldo sa konseho dong? PBA salary cap sauna (P450,000) maximum, P150k minimum. Pila diay minimum sa konsehal nganong buslot man imong pantalon?” Go said in jest.

“Bitaw, buotan ni, kauban mi ani sa panerbisyo.  Three-point king. Kauban mi, nagduwa gyud mi ani sauna katong sa nangampanya pa ko sauna, buotan kayo. Nagsabot mi, magtinabangay mi kung unsay makatabang labi na sa mga pasyente diri sa Cebu,” said Go.

Hontiveros, in return for Go’s “malasakit” to the Cebuanos, told The FREEMAN that he will also propose that he will lead basketball out-reach activities for the senator.

Basketball is not only for entertainment and sports but also to promote health and mental wellness among the Cebuanos.

Go also disclosed during the launch of CCMC’s Malasakit Center that they are downloading P20 million budget for medical assistance to indigent patients under CCMC.

Aside from that, Go also promised to help the Cebuano patients who need major operation in Manila.

The Malasakit Center at CCMC is the seventh in Cebu.

Reposar, for his part, earlier said that with this one-stop shop at CCMC, he anticipated patients to be encouraged for early consultation, and admission that will also translate to early detection and treatment.

“We are sending a very strong message to our fellow Cebuanos that they are not neglected, that their health and wellness are a top priority in this government,” Reposar said. (FREEMAN)
