CEBU, Philippines — Fishermen from the different barangays in Mandaue City received boats from a non-governmental organization in order to support them in their livelihood.

The Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation, in coordination with the Mandaue City Government, gave 16 boats to some members of the Fisherfolks Association of Mandaue who were coming from the Barangays of Basak, Jagobiao, Labogon, Looc, Opao, Paknaan, Subangdaku, and Umapad.

The Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation is a non-government organization that is looking after the welfare of the youth in coastal communities.

Together with the foundation are the Angel Protocol and International School, who painted the boats.

The giving of these boats, according to the Mandaue City Public Information Office’s Facebook post, was also in line with the anti-terrorism awareness seminar that seeks to help fight terrorism and its recruitment.

The beneficiaries were also encouraged to be responsible for their trash in order to protect the environment.

The event was attended by Mandaue City Councilors Jen Del Mar and Anjong Ouano Icalina. — GAN (FREEMAN)
