MOD personnel to help enforce traffic rules at Carbon Market

Mary Ruth R. Malinao - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City’s Market Operations Division (MOD) will soon help the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) in enforcing the traffic rules and regulations at the Carbon Public Market.

CCTO executive director Paul Gotiong disclosed that some MOD personnel will be deputized by their office so that they can apprehend traffic violators in the city’s largest market.

In line with its modernization, the city government also wants to ensure that there will be a smooth traffic flow in the area.

At least 30-40 employees are set to be given the authority to reprimand those who refuse to follow the traffic rules.

They will undergo an extensive training this September, and the graduation is scheduled early October. With their help, the streets inside or around the Carbon Public Market will be monitored.

“Dako gyud kini og tabang aron maseguro gyud nato nga mapatuman ang mga lagda sa trapiko sa atong merkado,” said Gotiong.

Gotiong added that these personnel will also undergo an examination to show their readiness in the traffic operations.

He also asked the motorists passing through the Carbon Public Market to obey the rules so that the area can be orderly and it could not affect the marketgoers.

CCTO is also working on clearing the obstructions in the area as it was reported that because of the obstructions people are forced to pass through the road designated for vehicles causing traffic problems. — FPL (FREEMAN)
