Carcar is Pasigarbo grand champion

CEBU, Philippines —  Carcar City’s Kabkaban Festival was adjudged as champion in the Grand Ritual Showdown during the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2022 on Sunday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Carcar City’s contingent was also adjudged as first in the street dancing category. It also ranked third in the Best Andas category and as Best Festival Jingle.

Earlier, Carcar City’s festival queen also won as Best Festival Queen during the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo Festival Queen competition held on August 27, 2022.

On the other hand, Minglanilla’s Sugat Kabanhawan was also chosen as fourth in the ritual showdown and street dancing category, champion in the Best in Andas category, third in Best Decorated Audio Van, and Best Festival Costume.

Minglanilla’s festival queen also won as third runner up.

The other eight top winners in the ritual showdown are Toledo City’s Hinulawan Festival (second) City of Naga’s Dagitab Festival (third), Bantayan’s Palawod Festival (fifth), Talisay City’s Halad Inasal Festival (sixth), Liloan’s Rosquillos Festival (seventh), Dalaguete’s Utanon Festival (eighth) Consolacion’s Sarok Festival (ninth), and Moalboal’s Kagasangan Festival (tenth).

For the street dancing competition, other winners are Barili’s Panumod Festival (second), Liloan’s Rosquillos Festival (third) and Dalaguete’s Utanon Festival (fifth).

For Best in Andas, the other winners are Mandaue City’s Panagtagbo Festival (second) and Ronda’s Humba Festival (third), who is tie with Carcar City’s Kabkaban Festival.

For the Best Decorated Audio Van, the other winners are Madridejos’ Isda Festival (first), Balamban’s Lingaw-Sadya Festival (second), Consolacion’s Sarok Festival (fourth), and Bantayan’s Palawod Festival (fifth).

The event was participated by 50 towns and component cities as well as Mandaue City.

The two other highly urbanized cities-Lapu-Lapu and Cebu joined the event as guest contingents.

First Lady Marie Louise "Liza" Araneta Marcos was welcomed by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia at Cebu City Sports Center yesterday afternoon for the awarding and repeat performances of the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2022 winners. — GMR (FREEMAN)
