CEBU, Philippines —  San Nicolas Proper Barangay Captain Clifford Jude Niñal has pledged to work on bigger and better incentives and recognition for future top college graduates from their barangay to inspire them to study harder.

This came after giving a certificate of recognition to three fresh graduates of Cebu Normal University.

John Nicholson Lagapa graduated magna cum laude in Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education.

Vladimir Rosaupan and Commie Llatona, for their part, both emerged as cum laude in Journalism and Bachelor in Secondary Education major in English, respectively.

Niñal, alongside with councilwoman Anabelia Lauron, handed a certificate of recognition plus cash to the three products of San Nicolas Proper for their Latin honors yesterday at the barangay hall.

Aside from the certificate and cash, Niñal said, they are also printing out tarpaulins congratulating the three.

Recognizing the three yesterday was a symbolic way of celebrating the Philippines’ 124th Independence Day with their graduation also meant freedom from school work and another chapter to make a difference.

Niñal said, in the future, he hopes to see more products of San Nicolas Proper also graduate with flying colors and be recognized too.

Niñal also looks into sources of more funds as incentives to college graduates with honors.

“Makalipay kaayo nga naa tay mga graduates nga mga cum laude despite sa pandemic. Akong paningkamuton na matagaag pondo ni para ma-encourage ug ma-inspire pud ang ubang mga kabatan-onan para magtuon og tarung kay dili lalim ang magpaeskwela ug moeskwela karong panahona,” said Niñal to The Freeman. — GMR (FREEMAN)
