Oplan Bulabog catches 248 protocol violators

CEBU, Philippines —  A total of 248 protocol violators were apprehended by the members of Cebu City Police Office during the synchronized Oplan Bulabog around the city Monday night.

Police Lt. Colonel Janette Rafter, chief of operations of CCPO, said that out of 248, at least 13 minors were rescued.

According to Rafter, all the 11 stations of CCPO participated in the operation long with police personnel at the headquarters.

It was also participated by PROBE, which was divided into two teams. One team was assigned at the Parian Police Station while the other team was in Abellana Police Station.

As a whole, there were 100 police personnel involved in the Oplan Bulabog.

"Ang 30 niana gikan sa PROBE, and then ang 70 mao na ang police personnel from the Cebu City headquarters led by our CD (city director), Police Colonel Ernesto Tagle," said Rafter.

At exactly 11 p.m. when the curfew hour started, the operation began.

The team deployed under the area of Parian Police Station was able to arrest six violators for violating the curfew ordinance after they were caught having a drinking session.

The other team was in Juana Osmeña Street where a total of 63 violators of the same offense were also caught and apprehended.

Among the 63, three were minors that were rescued.

In line with this, Rafter said they will continue the Oplan Bulabog onwards.

"Sa karon man gud, gi-intensify na nato atong operation Oplan Bulabog, ug atong mga operation rekorida kay sa mga niaging adlaw nitag-as na gyud atong mga kaso, kini gyud dili nato pasagdan na motaas atong mga kaso kay kini among gibuhat is para kanatong tanan," said Rafter.

Rafter assessed that during their operations, the majority of the establishments were already closed. However, some others were believed to have still opened even after the curfew hours to earn the remaining profit at late night.

"Sulti sa mga tag-iya namasin sa gamay nga kita, but ato pud sila gipasabot na ilang pagpapamasin maoy rason sa posibleng pagtaas sa atong kaso," said Rafter.

Some other protocol violators who were arrested also reasoned out that they haven't taken note of the time when having a drinking session. --  GMR (FREEMAN)
