One Cebu 'seriously considering' Isko Moreno for president
“We are of course seriously considering. I would not have been in Barili and Dumanjug if we are not seriously considering Yorme as the One Cebu candidate for President of the Philippines,” said Cebu Third District Congressman Pablo John “PJ” Garcia, the secretary general of One Cebu.

CEBU, Philippines — The One Cebu, the local party of the Garcias, is “strongly considering” presidential aspirant and Manila City Mayor Francisco Domagoso a.k.a. Isko “Yorme” Moreno as its presidential candidate for the 2022 polls.

“We are of course seriously considering. I would not have been in Barili and Dumanjug if we are not seriously considering Yorme as the One Cebu candidate for President of the Philippines,” said Cebu Third District Congressman Pablo John “PJ” Garcia, the secretary general of One Cebu.

The congressman accompanied Moreno to several events yesterday.

Moreno paid a courtesy call on Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia at the Capitol yesterday.

Moreno admitted courting Cebuanos to support his presidential bid. Cebu is the country’s vote-rich province.

“Maraming na-create na presidente dahil sa boto ng Cebu,” he said.

After the courtesy visit, he met with some micro small medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) at the CFI Cooperative building inside the Capitol compound.

He also met with the tourism sector in Moalboal, and MSMEs and some mayors and local officials in the southern towns of Barili and Dumanjug.

PJ, the governor’s brother, said Moreno’s efforts listening to the different sectors in Cebu affected by the COVID-19 pandemic are very much appreciated.

Moreno is “going in the right direction,” PJ added.

“I think, I maybe wrong, but he is the first and only presidentiable to have done that, who have gone to the sectors that have been affected by this COVID-19, MSMEs, tourism workers and to see what is done in Cebu and what can be done in the national scale if he will be president. As he said nga, may mga good practices si Governor Gwen dito na pwdeng i-scale up sa whole country, so I think he is going in the right direction,” the congressman said.

PJ said though One Cebu is still deciding on its presidential bet. It will be announced after November 15, the last day of the substitution of candidates.

Moreno, Vice President Leni Robredo, Senator Emmanuel Pacquiao, Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., and Senator Panfilo Lacson are among the 97 aspirants for president.

Moreno is hoping that One Cebu Party would back his presidential bid.

“Hopefully ako yong mapili ng One Cebu kasi One Cebu for that matter was created to unify the entire island para magkaroon nga maayo na direksyon,” he said.

Moreno will be staying in Cebu until today for several activities, including the ocular visit of the third bridge. — KQD (FREEMAN)
