Cebu City police to re-impose videoke ban so students won't get distracted

CEBU, Philippines —  To avoid students from being distracted from their online classes, the Cebu City Police Office is strictly implementing a karaoke ban in the city.

Even playing of loud music during daytime is prohibited to allow students to concentrate in their classes.

Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, deputy city director for operations, said the re-imposition of the karaoke ban is in line with the Oplan; Ligtas Balik Eskwela of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

"Especially karon nga naa ra sila sa ilang panimalay, so kung sa ilang mga panimalay walay kahapsay, gubot, saba, so dili ka concentrate atong mga estudyante sa ilang pagtuon," Parilla said.

Parilla said they will start the information dissemination to warn the public that they will be apprehended if caught violating the karaoke ban. Students in public schools returned to classes on Monday using the distant learning modality amid the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.

For two years now, students attend classes online and use modules to complete their course requirements.

Parilla asked the barangay officials to help the police monitor for violators in their respective areas. Those who will be caught violating will be issued citation tickets and will face penalties provided for under the city ordinance.

 Parilla said the barangay officials will play the most important part in the enforcement of the ordinance.

 "Considering nga sila ang nakaila sa ilang mga katawhan, kung asa ang mga residential nga area, sila sad mutabang sad sa rekorida," Parilla said.
