CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu provincial government has earmarked P100 million for its plan to launch a livelihood skills training project for the Cebuanos.

The Capitol will be partnering with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for this livelihood training project.

“Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia believes this is a key step in bringing livelihood opportunities to Cebuanos amid the coronavirus pandemic,” according to the Cebu Provincial Information Office.

The budget for the project will be patterned after the Capitol’s Sugbo Negosyo program wherein the fund will be distributed to the Provincial Board members for their respective districts in the province and Office of the Vice Governor.

“The project will be a vital addition to successful economic recovery and livelihood-driven projects of the Provincial Government..,” the Capitol said.

Sugbo Negosyo program is an initiative by the Capitol that helps micro-small medium entrepreneurs develop and improve their business with the help of the Capitol’s partnered merchants where qualified beneficiaries get their supply of products.

The program is one of the Capitol’s ways to recover and boost the economy that was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program launched last year benefitting at least 8,000 Cebuanos and is now on its second round. — GMR (FREEMAN)
