Oslob mayor gets COVID-19

CEBU, Philippines — Oslob Mayor Jose Tumulak Jr. has been infected with coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Tumulak is the 10th mayor in Cebu province who got infected with the virus since last year.

"Gikasubo ko sa pagpahibaw kaninyo nga ako dili exempted sa maong sakit. Tungod sa kadaghang aktibidadis nga atong gitambungan sa pagpanerbisyo, positive ko sa covid-19," announced Tumulak on Wednesday through the Municipality of Oslob Facebook page.

The mayor did not give further details on his condition but he reminded his constituents to be mindful of the health protocols to avoid the virus.

He added that the Municipal Hall of Oslob is still open aside from the Mayor's Office.

Meanwhile, Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr. has informed his constituents that he already checked out from the hospital yesterday.

Before Tumulak, Gullas was the last mayor who got infected with COVID-19 and was brought to the hospital last February 11, 2021.

"While most of my symptoms are gone, nag pa bilin akong ubo. Rhea and I decided dili lang sa ko mu uli sa among balay kay naa pakoy ubo and I haven’t completed my 14 day quarantine just yet," Gullas said on his Facebook page.

The mayor furthered, this is his way to ensure his family is safe.

"Hadlok ko matakdan na nuon nako ang pamilya kay pareha ra bya mi ug CR sa balay, human naa bya tawn c Pining" he added.

Gullas is set to finish his 14-day quarantine on February 23 and hoping to be back to work on the next day. — GMR (FREEMAN)
