81 arrested in police operations in Talisay
CEBU, Philippines — A total of 81 individuals were arrested by the authorities in a three-day Synchronized Enhanced Managing Police Operations (SEMPO) in Talisay City.
The Talisay City police have arrested individuals for illegal drug peddling, illegal gambling, accounted for wanted persons and implemented local ordinances.
Police have seized 34 grams of illegal drugs with a Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) value of P293,000 from 15 drug personalities arrested in 15 separate operations.
They also arrested at least 23 personalities for illegal gambling while 35 violators of health protocols were apprehended.
Police have also served warrants which led to the arrest of eight individuals for various offenses.
There were also four individuals who surrendered their expired firearms for safekeeping while renewal was in process.
The arrested individuals are now in the custody of Talisay Custodial Facility while waiting for cases to be filed against them for violation of Republic Act 9165, Presidential Decree 1602 and Republic Act 9287.
According to Police Major Gerard Ace Pelare, chief of Talisay City Police Station, the said three-day SEMPO were conducted to reduce and account criminals who are perpetrating unlawful acts in the city. — GMR (FREEMAN)
