BOC-Cebu opens customer care center
CEBU, Philippines — BOC-Cebu acting district collector Charlito Martin R. Mendoza said yesterday that the CCC is a one-stop-shop facility that will cater its clients on payment of customs taxes and duties, the receiving and releasing of documents, among others.
“This was launched last Monday and its operation officially started on Tuesday and so far, so good,” said Mendoza.
BOC-Cebu caters to about 200 clients per day.
Mendoza said that the CCC has six employees working on customs-related inquiries.
“Kasi dati pag may inquiry yung client, he or she has to go different offices, with this customer care dito na lang sila mag-inquire such as declaration of their goods or any concerns in our different units,” Mendoza said.
He added that these personnel manning the customer care are trained to ensure they can assist the inquiring clients.
The CCC, which is the brainchild of Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero, is one of the programs of the bureau to implement Republic Act No. 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act.
The CCC is designed to further streamline the bureau’s processes, and minimize opportunities for graft and corruption while increasing efficiency of trade facilitation.
In a Facebook post of the bureau, Mendoza led the ribbon-cutting ceremony together with the officers of the Port of Cebu.
Representatives of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Chamber of Customs Brokers Inc. - Cebu Chapter also attended the event.
It added that the launching of the service center would surely boost the bureau’s transaction efficiency in time for the anticipated uptick in transactions for the Christmas season and gradual reopening of the economy. — GMR (FREEMAN)
