Capitol workers lose P16 thousand in âburglaryâ

CEBU, Philippines —  Two offices of the Cebu Provincial Capitol were robbed by an unidentified thief around 12 midnight yesterday.

In a radio report of dyLA, Cebu Provincial Police Chief Roderick Mariano said the male thief who has a "small build" was seen in a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage exiting the Provincial Social Welfare Office (PSWDO) going to the Accounting Office.

The PSWDO is located on the left wing, while the Accounting Office is on the right wing, both at the ground floor of the Executive building of the Cebu Provincial Capitol.

Around P16,000 believed to be owned by Capitol employees was reportedly taken by the suspect at the Accounting Office. None was taken at the PSWDO.

Initial investigation of the police said the suspect may have entered at the vacant air conditioning unit at the PSWDO which was only covered by plywood.

The police are now on the hunt of the suspect, while also looking into the possible lapses of the Capitol's security personnel.
