5 thousands construction workers get aid from developer
CEBU, Philippines — At least 5,000 construction workers are assured of continuous work, with additional cash support for their family to get through with the health crisis.
Cebu Landmasters Inc. (CLI) chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) Jose Soberano III said the company’s third-party construction workers would get additional financial support through allowances on daily basis.
These “no-work-no-payment” segment of working population — construction workers are still allowed to work under the general community quarantine period imposed by the government, Soberano said.
CLI has multiple development projects, not just in Cebu but major areas in Visayas and Mindanao.
The publicly-listed company announced that, in support of the entire VisMin community, it commits to contribute its share amidst this unfortunate situation.
“The well-being of all our stakeholders, starting with our employees, residents, third-party construction workers, and healthcare professionals, is of our utmost priority,” said Soberano.
CLI’s direct employees are on flexible work arrangement to ensure their safety.
“We are providing masks and medicine health kits during this period,” he added.
Heeding the plea of the government for employers to release the 13th month pay, CLI is extending an early release of its 14th month bonus to further support their families’ needs.
“Should there be a lockdown, pay without work will be provided for employees who cannot work from home,” he added.
Meanwhile, CLI-developed communities or residents will be provided with hygiene measures within the CLI properties.
“We are distributing hand sanitizers throughout the company’s facilities, offices, project sites, and communities, limiting number of riders on all elevators, implementing temperature checks at entrances, and adding cleaning services for all CLI properties.”
“We are donating medical supplies that would help them protect themselves as they care for the patients affected by the virus. We urge the public to help these heroes as they are our most important front liners in these trying times,” Soberano added.
“In this rapidly evolving environment, we cannot predict the business impact at this time but are committed to put ourselves in the best position to resume normal operations when this situation recovers. CLI will continue to place the well-being of our people first and make sure to deliver and cater to the needs of our buyers, residents, business partners, government, and communities we serve,” Soberano said.
In 2019, CLI launched nine major developments, these include;
Davao Global Township – Phase 1 (Davao); One Paragon Place (Davao), Citadines Paragon Davao (Davao); Citadines Bacolod City (Bacolod); MesaVirre Garden Residences C (Bacolod); Casa Mira Bacolod (Bacolod); Velmiro Plains Bacolod (Bacolod); Casa Mira Towers CDO (CDO); and Mivela Garden Residences (Cebu).
