CH eyes accreditation of sports clubs
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Councilor Eugenio Gabuya Jr. has proposed an ordinance requiring all sports organizations with principal offices in the city to be accredited with the Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC).
The proposed ordinance entitled "An Ordinance Requiring All Sports Associations/Clubs/Organizations with Principal Offices in the City of Cebu to be Accredited with the Cebu City Sports Commission" was referred to the Committee on Laws, Ordinances, and Styling.
It shall cover all sports associations, clubs or organizations with principal offices within the jurisdiction of the city.
Gabuya said several non-stock and non-profit sports organizations or clubs organized and/or maintained by awarded athletes and/or sports aficionados have their principal offices in the city.
As stated in the draft ordinance, the president or top official of sports association or organization or club with principal office within the city's jurisdiction shall submit to CCSC all its established requirements for accreditation.
Upon accreditation, benefits may be granted to the sports association or organization or club and to any officer or bonafide member.
Accredited sports association or organization or club may be granted with financial assistance by the city government through CCSC, and any officer or bonafide member of a duly accredited sports association or organization or club may be granted with the opportunity to serve as consultant or referee or tournament official of any city-sanctioned games or tournaments.
Once approved, the CCSC shall implement the ordinance and shall prepare the necessary rules and regulations for its effective implementation not later than 15 days. FPL (FREEMAN)
