CH hits P8.2B revenue target in 2019
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Government had achieved its P8.2 billion target revenue collection in 2019.
Attorney Jerone Castillo, officer-in-charge of the City Treasure’s Office, proudly announced that they were able to hit 100 percent of their target collection.
“Last year, our expected income was P8.2 billion, that’s for 2019. Amo gyud gi monitor, we got P8.2 as well, we achieved 100 percent based on gross,” Castillo said.
This includes tax revenues, business tax, real estate tax, among others. For this year, Castillo said, the city is projecting P8.9 billion.
“We will be projecting P8.9 billion on regular income. We will try our best to get that one,” Castillo said.
He said the city government needs more funds to support its programs. According to him, more taxes collected means more services, infrastructures to build, and programs for its people.
Castillo has commended the personnel of the CTO for their hard work to achieve their target.
“They have given so much sacrifice for the sake of the city, so hats off to all the staff of treasury for doing their jobs,” said Castillo.
The CTO launched last week a one-stop shop for the renewal of business permits. The city is expecting 40,000 business establishments to renew their permits this year.
Castillo said that aside from business permit renewal, the one-stop shop will also process delivery permits, special permits, events permits, and cedula or community tax certificate.
The city government is expecting to collect bulk of the revenues this January. (FREEMAN)
