CEBU, Philippines — The proposed P6.8 million aid from the national government intended for the municipality of Pilar in the Camotes Islands is now a step closer to reality.

This after the Cebu Provincial Board has authorized Governor Gwendolyn Garcia to enter into a memorandum of agreement with Pilar so the town could receive the aid.

Pilar requested the financial assistance from the national government through the 2018 Local Government Support Fund-Assistance to Disadvantaged Municipalities.

This is to subsidize the concreting of a provincial road in Sitio Lasang, Barangay Montserrat.

However, the concreting of provincial roads is ineligible for LGSF-ADM under its implementing rules.

Because of this, Pilar requested for an exception so it may be able to use its LGSF-ADM funds for Fiscal Year 2018 for the concreting project.

The Department of Interior and Local Governance agreed with the condition that Pilar enters into a MOA with the provincial government.

In the MOA, a provision should state that the project would be included in the asset account of the province.

This resolution was approved during the regular Provincial Board session last December 9. It was sponsored by Third District Board Member John Ismael Borginia.  JMD (FREEMAN)
