Frat member shot, in critical condition
CEBU, Philippines — A 19-year-old member of the Alpha Kappa Rho (Akrho) fraternity group is in critical condition after he was shot by unknown assailants in Sitio Mabini, Barangay San Roque, Cebu City yesterday.
Police identified the victim as Leo Macabudbus, a resident of Carmen town in Bohol province, who is temporarily residing on Katipunan Street in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City.
According to Police Major Joemar Pomarejos, chief of the Waterfront Police Station, Macabudbus was walking on the way home with two companions identified as Audric Labay and Marjun Villareal when two men suddenly shot them with no apparent reason.
Pomarejos said that based on their initial investigation, the victim had warned his two friends to distance from him should he be wearing his fraternity shirt.
The victim was wearing such shirt at the time of the incident.
After the shooting, the two suspects immediately fled the scene.
Although the two companions were safe, Macabudbus sustained wounds in the upper part of his body and was rushed to the hospital. As this story was written yesterday, he was still fighting for his life.
Police recovered from the crime scene five empty shells of caliber 45 pistol.
A follow-up investigation is still underway to hopefully identify and arrest the gunmen. JMD (FREEMAN)
