More road projects greenlighted for Cebu

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Provincial Capitol has awarded more road concreting projects to different contractors amounting to P178.2 million.

This is in addition to the P530 million worth of road concreting projects for the province that were earlier awarded.

The funds will come from the P1.38 billion that Governor Gwendolyn Garcia proposed and was approved by the Provincial Board last August, of which P800 million was allocated for the road and bridges construction and rehabilitation.

The PB yesterday passed at least seven resolutions sponsored by Board Member Edsel Galeos authorizing Garcia to execute and sign a contract of agreement with respective contractors.

Galeos, who chairs the PB committee on public works, highways and infrastructure, said all the projects have passed through the bidding process conducted by the Bids and Awards Committee and declared the winning bidders.

“The BAC represents and warrants that they have lawfully complied with R.A. 9184, The Government Procurement Reform Act, its implementing rules and other laws related thereto,” Galeos said.

The projects include the P6 million concreting of Liki-Cabagdalan Road Section and P24 million Poblacion-Lamesa Road Section in Balamban won by WTG Construction and Development Corporation.

The P11.8 million Mangga-Sto. Niño Road Section in Tuburan was won by April Rose Enterprises and Builders; P36 million Zaragosa-Rosario Road Section in Aloguisan was won by Quirante Construction; P24 million concreting of select road sections in 24 barangays of Tupas, Anislag, Anopog, Binabag, Buhingtubig, Busay, Butong, Camugao, Duangan, Guimbawian, Lamac, Lut-od, Mangoto, Opao, Pandacan,Poblacion, Punod, Rizal, Sacsac, Sambagon, Sibago, Tajao, Tangub, and Tanibag, all in Pinamungajan was won by B.L. Pangan Construction.

The P10.7 million concreting of selected road sections in 11 barangays of Tungkay, Loay, Bunga, Campo 8, Sam-ang, Bulongan, Canlumampao, Poog, Talavera, Media Once, and Tubod, all in Toledo City won by YBK Construction; and the P35.9 million concreting of Gunting-Balao Road Section in Barili wasnwon by the joint venture of P.B. Obial Construction and First Grandeur Builders. (FREEMAN)
