Group files complaint vs investment company
CEBU, Philippines — At least 20 people yesterday trooped to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-7 to complain after allegedly being duped in an investment scam.
The complainants claimed that they invested in Ada farm, yet they have not received any “payout,” contrary to what was promised to them when they invested their money in.
Complainant Elvessa Tolibao said she invested P15,000 from her salary and tax refund when she was working as OFW from Taiwan.
From the time she paid the amount last May 9, she said she has not received any money in return contrary to what she has been told when she was lured in to invest.
“Ni-pay-in ko pag May 9, pero wala gyud ko naka-payout kay na raid man to pagka-June. Ang P500 kuno nimo na kwarta mahimo kuno nang P900 (in) 50 days. Nya akoa kay P15,000 man to, so mahimo syang P27,000,” Tolibao said.
Tolibao added that it was a colleague from Japan who introduced her to the investment scheme.
When she checked online about the investment group, she was enticed after seeing that there were several people who got a ‘payout’ through the same method.
She confirmed that she gave her investment personally at the office of Ada farm.
However, Tolibao clarified that she has not met the person who claimed to be the company CEO.
Meanwhile, a former employee of a pawnshop, who asked not to be named, claimed to have invested P200,000.
She claimed to have invested the first P100,000 around April, and the other P100,000 a month later through her sister in Cebu.
However, she said that she has not received any ‘payout’ after she had invested.
“Wala gyud ko kadawat bisan kausa,” she said.
“Ni-file mi diri ug complaint aron bisan na lamang matagaan ug justice among kwarta,” she said.
Meanwhile, the person who claimed to be the CEO allegedly went into hiding, according to them.
“Wala na ron ma’am nitago na man,” the complainant said. (FREEMAN)
