Dina Atip - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Council has approved the ordinance requiring all city employees to observe and adopt the prescribed dress code.

The members of the council approved the ordinance of Councilor Raul Alcoseba during their regular session held yesterday at the Cebu City Session Hall, presided over by acting Vice Mayor Donaldo Hontiveros.

Alcoseba earlier proposed a resolution requesting the approval of Mayor Edgardo Labella’s memorandum for city employees to observe and adopt the proposed dress code following the Civil Service Circular No. 19, Series of 2000.

In accordance with the circular, city employees must wear their prescribed office uniform while working in the city government.

The council also approved Councilor Lea Japson’s ordinance concerning public dignity and figures, that all city employees must wear their identification card while on duty.

The city administrator has requested the Human Resource Development office to strictly monitor the employees concerning their prescribed uniform.

The ordinance said the implementation of the order will preserve the dignified appearance of city employees as public servants. (FREEMAN)
