Man indicted for ‘killing’ neighbor over parking space
CEBU, Philippines — The Prosecutor's Office has charged a 46-year-old man before the court for allegedly killing his neighbor over a parking space.
Jersam Armecin is facing a murder case before the Regional Trial Court Branch 16.
In her complaint, Leslie Flor Alatraca alleged that Armecin killed her husband, 40-year-old Vladimir, at around 6 a.m. on June 20, 2019.
Both the Alatracas and Armecin live in Sunshine Valley in Barangay Quiot, Cebu City.
Armecin claimed he was merely defending himself when he fired a gun after a parking altercation.
He claimed he was inside the vehicle when Vladimir confronted him.
He alleged the victim had a stone in hand and was about to hit him. Thus, he fired a warning shot.
Armecin said he shot Vladimir twice because he feared for his life to be hit by a stone.
Leslie said Armecin had a personal grudge against her husband over a parking incident.
"My husband and Armecin had a heated argument because Armecin sided with Jun Rivellesa who parked his car in front of our house blocking our door," the affidavit read.
Investigation showed that Armecin and Vladimir had an argument last June 14 over a rented parking space.
Prosecutor 1 Russell Busico ruled in favor of Leslie.
"In this case, the apparent disparity between a stone hitting the head and a gunshot to the head or trunk negates the claim of self-defense," read the resolution.
Busico recommended no bail against Armecin. — KBQ (FREEMAN)
