CEBU, Philippines — A 24-year-old male teacher of a university in Cebu City is now detained after he was arrested in an entrapment operation in a lodging house in Barangay Pari-an, Cebu City, with his male student, a 17-year-old.

The names of the suspect and the victim are being withheld due to the sensitivity of the case.

According to Police Captain Armando Labora, officer-in-charge of the Parian Police Station, the father of the student went to them and said his son told him that the teacher threatened to fail the student if he will not have sex with him.

According to Labora, the teacher arranged to meet the student in a lodging house Monday morning and they positioned personnel to arrest the teacher.

When the teacher and the student entered the lodging house, the police rushed in to arrest the teacher.

Charges for sexual harassment and violation of Republic Act 7610 (Anti-Child Abuse Law) were filed against the suspect yesterday afternoon.

The teacher has strongly denied the allegations against him. (FREEMAN)
