CEBU, Philippines — Another department head of the Cebu provincial government has resigned from his post this year.

Civil Security Unit (CSU) Head Roberto “Bobby” Legaspi resigned from his post last January 2019.  Capitol’s Tourism Officer Joselito “Boboi” Costas also filed his resignation effective March 15 this year.

According to Bonifer Nacorda, head of the human resource department of the Capitol, Legaspi has rendered 30 days service as prescribed by law, before he left the Capitol last February 28, 2019.

“Rason ni Bobby kay naa syay personal or related na priorities that he has to pursue but wala gibutang didto ang specific,” Nacorda said.

Effective March 1, Legaspi was no longer part of the Cebu provincial government after his five years in service.

Legaspi first worked at the Capitol last January 20, 2014 until February this year.

During his service, aside from being the head of the security unit of the Capitol, Legaspi was also assigned as acting warden of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) several times.

Governor Hilario Davide III then appointed the head of the Provincial General Services Office (PGSO) as OIC of CSU.

“On March 1, 2019, ni-issue pud si Gov para wala vaccum sa responsibility, in concurrent capacity si Mr. Jone Ziegfred Sepe ang GSO ang gi-assign pud nga OIC for Civil Security Unit as of this time under the Office of the Governor,” Nacorda said.

“I don’t think it can be correlated nga wala sila gitarong og dala ni Gov,” Nacorda said, adding that in the resignation letters of both Legaspi and Costas, the two officials thanked the governor for the opportunity that was given to them.

Nacorda said the resignation of the two department heads has minimal effect on their respective office and assured that this won’t ruin the organization of the civil security unit and the tourism office, since they have already deployed someone to be in charge temporarily while the position is vacant.

For the tourism office, the OIC of the Cebu Provincial Investment and Promotions Office (CPIPO) Floreza Alpuerto will temporarily handle the office as soon as Costas leaves, while Sepe already took over as OIC after Legaspi’s resignation. — GAN (FREEMAN)
