CEBU, Philippines — Starting today, the Cebu South Bus Terminal will have a new manager, according to Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III.

Jonathan Tumulak will replace Joey Herrera, as the latter will be appointed as the manager of the Larsian foodstrip exclusively.

As the new chief, Tumulak said that he will be prioritizing the cleanliness of the area to leave a good impression on both local and foreign guests who use the terminal, which is dubbed as the gateway to the south.

Security measures will also be tightened particularly in the entrances.

“Unsa’y mga security measures nga gipatuman diha medyo ato pa g’yud na pahugtan tungod sa mga sitwasyon karon and dili na mahitabo ang nahitabo niadtong miaging mga buwan,” he said.

To cite one incident, it can be recalled that 46 guns made it through CSBT security protocols. He continued that he does not want incidents like these to happen again. Tumulak plans to request police augmentation in the terminal.

He said he will also go after unaccredited conductors operating within the bus terminal.

Meanwhile, regarding the Larsian foodstrip, Davide explained that he wants Herrera to focus on the improvement of Larsian in uptown Cebu City, considered one of the prime properties of the provincial government.

“My main task is to increase the income of that property and (ma-address) kanang mga reklamo sa mga customers on the Larsian itself. So, mao na nga timely nga gi-assign ko ni Gov dinha kay sa ongoing rehab sa Larsian,” Herrera told reporters.

Larsian has been closed since last July 1. It is undergoing renovation in the hopes of bringing back its glory days. The vendors are currently using an area along B. Rodriguez Street, Cebu City, still proximate to their original location. While it is closed, workshops are also being conducted on vendors to address concerns especially on sanitation, customer service, and transparency.

“So all these can be solved or can be addressed kon maayo ang coordination between the provincial government, the city government, and the tenants sa Larsian. I’m hopeful of that. And maminusan ang reklamo aron kita mga Sugbuanon ma-enjoy dining at Larsian. A good street food nga cheap,” Herrera said. (FREEMAN)
