CEBU, Philippines — Outgoing Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB-7) Director Ahmed Cuizon will leave the region with an accomplishment of apprehending 39 colorum or illegally operating vehicles.

Before he transfers to his new assignment in Pampanga today, Cuizon reported that one more public utility vehicle with no franchise to operate was apprehended plying in Mandaue City.

A taxi unit was caught operating in Mandaue City on Friday while he was preparing for his new post in Central Luzon. With his lead, Cuizon counted almost 40 vehicles that the enforcement team has apprehended this 2018.

“It (taxi cab) now joins the crowd of illegal vehicles at our parking area, bringing our apprehensions to 39 colorums so far this year,” he said.

Even with his transfer, he is optimistic that the LTFRB-7 will surpass its 2017 accomplishment before the year ends. He recounted that in 2017 at least 50 colorum vehicles were apprehended from the agency’s intensified effort to curb illegally operating vehicles.

Cuizon will be replaced by Eduardo Montealto Jr. from Zamboanga City.

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade earlier ordered the reshuffling of seven LTFRB regional officers effective today. Tugade, in a special order dated August 7, directed the transfer of Cuizon to San Fernando, Pampanga.

Cuizon was first appointed as LTFRB- 7 director in December 2010 until October 2014. He was later transferred to the Mactan Cebu International Airport. But he was re-appointed back to the position in March 2017 and holds the position up to the present. (FREEMAN)
