Mandaue City gives out cars, heavy equipment

CEBU, Philippines — The Mandaue City government has distributed three dump trucks, a boom truck, and four units of Toyota Avanza to four barangays in the city and two departments last Monday.

The turnover was done after the flag ceremony. The three dump trucks, worth P1.8 million each, were turned over to the Office of the City Engineer while the boom truck, which is worth P7.8 million, was given to the Department of General Services (DGS).

The heavy equipment will be used for clearing operations and maintenance services in the city.

The four units of Toyota Avanza worth P823,000 each were given to Barangays Pagsabungan, Paknaan, Maguikay, and Casuntingan.

Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna said the units were earlier requested by the departments and by the barangays.

"This will be used para naa mga kasakyan sa mga senior citizens, as well as to help mobilize the services of the barangays," Fortuna said.

The four barangays were the first batch to receive new service vehicles from the city government.

"Right now, kana ra nga mga barangay," he said, adding that there might be more to come once other barangays will make a request. (FREEMAN)
