Mandaue, Cauayan ink sisterhood agreement
CEBU, Philippines - To promote sharing of best practices in good governance, cultural, socio-economic programs, sports, and education development, a sisterhood agreement was inked between the cities of Mandaue and Cauayan, Isabela.
The friendship between the two cities was sealed by Mandaue City Mayor Gabriel Luigi Quisumbing and Cauayan City Mayor Bernard Faustino Dy yesterday morning inside the People's Hall in Mandaue City Hall yesterday morning.
Members of the Mandaue and Cauayan City Councils were also present to witness the signing event.
"The City of Mandaue and the City of Cauayan are looking forward to establishing a sisterhood relationship and town twinning that will strengthen their ties of friendship, understanding, partnership and cooperation in their pursuit of socio-cultural, technological, political and economic progress of each city,” reads the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by both parties.
As provided in the MOU, a sisterhood tie can create opportunities for mutual growth since both cities share similar environmental protection and tourism endeavors.
Other objectives include providing for better cooperation in conducting reciprocally planned and sanctioned programs geared towards the improvement of government administration, tourism, cultural preservation, environmental protection, education, technology, arts, and the holding of various endeavors mutually beneficial to both parties.
