Tabunok flyover closed tomorrow
CEBU, Philippines - The closure of the Tabunok flyover for repairs starts tomorrow.
City of Talisay Traffic Operations Development Authority (CT-TODA) Head Almond Dela Peña said the flyover would be closed and buses and trucks should take the Cebu South Coastal Road or the South Road Property.
He said buses or other six-wheeled trucks cannot take the Natalio Bacalso Avenue by passing through Tabunok because the underpass there was designed for jeepneys only.
Buses coming from Cebu City going south should turn left in Mambaling towards the SRP, exiting at Lawaan, Talisay City, while those going to Cebu City must turn right in Lawaan for the SRP.
Aside from SRP, the city also identified Victoria Street as a diversion road intended for light vehicles like tricycles and motorcycles coming from Barangay San Isidro going to Barangay Tabunok.
This will help lessen the volume of vehicles using the Tabunok underpass.
Dela Peña also reminded vendors to clear the underpass so that they would not hamper the traffic flow.
The flyover would be closed from 9 p.m. tomorrow until midnight of April 2 for the first phase of rehabilitation, which is the overlaying of the first layer of asphalt.
The closure will then resume on April 4 from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. of April 5 for the final layer of asphalt.
Once the rehabilitation project will start, CT-TODA would start implementing its special detail plan for traffic enforcers, including the use of the local police to help enforce order in the streets. (FREEMAN)
