CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas reported that the city has completed seven horizontal infrastructure projects in just the first six month of his term during his first Mayor’s Performance Report yesterday.

These infrastructure projects were the asphalting of Poblacion, Cansojong road worth P7.2 million; Kimba road, P2 million; Bulacao, Candulawan, P3.6 million; Mohon, Dumlog road, P639,000; Sitio Mahayag, San Isidro road, P1.4 million; Sitio Pagpag, San Isidro Road, P3.9 million; and Abores St., Bulacao road, P1.1 million.

The projects were started in September and were completed in December last year.

It was earlier agreed by Gullas and council presiding officer, Vice Mayor Alan Bucao, to replace the State of the City Address, which is scheduled every end of the term, with the Mayor’s Performance Report that will be done every six months.

Gullas also mentioned in his report that for the first quarter this year, they will start on more asphalting and concreting projects on roads in Cansojong budgeted for P1.5 million, Archville, San Isidro with P1.2 million, Cadulawan for P1.1million, Sitio Caduldulan, Lawaan 3 worth P1.9 million, Sitio Ilang-ilang, Lagtang for P2.1 million, Burgos Street, Dumlog with P4.6 million, Sitio Mangulabom Jaclupan for P500,000, Sitio AE, Jaclupan with P224,000, and Sitio Acasia, Jaclupan for P221,000.

The next performance report will be expected during the first session in July 2017.

During his report, Gullas also mentioned that the city needs to establish a technical-vocational school with the aim to decrease poverty rate in the city, saying that out of 9,926 households in Talisay, 6,600 of them are poor.

Gullas also said that Phase 1 in New Tabunok Public Market is scheduled for completion in May.

Phase 1 consists of two buildings where the first one is intended for the market's administration offices as well as commercial enterprise, while the second is intended for dry goods sellers.

Gullas also said that he had requested his grandson, First District Representative Gerald Anthony 'Samsam' Gullas, to file a bill in Congress to covert the Talisay City College into Talisay City State College.

He said that two other bills that they would push are for the conversion of Talisay District Hospital into Talisay Medical Center and the creation of the city’s own water district. (FREEMAN)
