IEC Convention Center opens
CEBU, Philippines - The biggest Convention Center in the Visayas and Mindanao is now open for business, but unlike other developments in Metro Cebu, the developers promise they will not contribute to the growing traffic problem here.
The IEC Convention Center Cebu (IC3), which served as venue for the recent International Eucharistic Congress last January, was unveiled yesterday along with the adjoining establishments which will be make up the whole "23 Minore Park."
IC3 Project Manager Lydwena Eco said that the private roads within the compound of 23 Minore Park will soon also serve as an alternative road to decongest portions of the Pope John Paul II Avenue and Cardinal Rosales Avenue in Mabolo.
23 Minore Park has a chapel which will be the centerpiece of the development. Aside from the IC3, the park will also host a hotel to cater to the needs of the convention center.
The convention hall itself can accommodate more than 15,000 people.
Completing its facilities will be a Landers Superstore which will open in the first quarter of 2017.
Archbishop Jose Palma said that the developer, Duros Group, will have use of the land for a 25-year lease period, but the Archdiocese will however have the say on which events are allowed at the IC3.
Eco said that they will make sure that no immoral activities will be held at the IC3, considering its historical and primary purpose was to host a religious event – the IEC 2016. (FREEMAN)
