Street dweller critical after getting shot
CEBU, Philippines - A street dweller is in critical condition after he was repeatedly shot by a motorcycle-riding assailant Sunday night at Sanciangko Street in Barangay Kamagayan, Cebu City.
The victim was identified as Esterlito Cebuano, 24, a resident of Barangay Mambaling.
According to a police informant, Cebuano was last seen sleeping at a corner of the street with one companion.
An unidentified assailant wearing a black bonnet arrived onboard a motorcycle and woke the victim up.
Cebuano woke up and sat on the pavement when the assailant suddenly pulled out a firearm and without any provocation shot the victim multiple times.
Cebuano sustained gunshot wounds in the different parts of his body.
Responding personnel from the Cebu City Emergency Medical Services rushed the victim to the Cebu City Medical Center.
The assailant, on the other hand, fled from the area.
Cebu City Police Office-Homicide Section personnel recovered four empty shells of a cal. 45 pistol from the crime scene.
Police are now investigating the incident and working on the assailant’s possible arrest while the victim is fighting for his life in the hospital. —/NSA (FREEMAN)
